What changes the price
- The size of the site. A 20-page service business needs far less work each month than a store with thousands of products and dozens of templates.
- Who makes the changes. Some monthly fees cover advice and reports, and the fixes are left to you or your developer. Others include the implementation. This is the biggest difference between two quotes that look similar.
- How much content is involved. Writing new pages or articles every month costs more than fixing and improving what you already have.
- How competitive your searches are. Ranking islandwide for a crowded service takes more work than ranking for a niche one, or for a single neighbourhood.
What a monthly fee should get you
Whatever the price, you should be able to see a ranked list of what needs doing, the changes actually made each month, and a monthly review of what changed and what comes next. If enquiries matter to you, ask for tracking that shows which searches and pages bring them in, because rankings alone won’t tell you that.

- What will you work on in the first month?
- How will I see what changed, and how often?
- Is there a minimum term, and what notice do I need to give?
- What happens to the work, and my access, if we stop?
A note on very cheap packages
